Models: Growatt THOR Smart EV Chargers
Introduction:
Growatt New Energy has introduced smart electric vehicle chargers named Growatt THOR. These chargers are suitable for both residential and commercial applications. By using Growatt THOR, you can utilize excess solar energy, thereby increasing real-time self-consumption. They are compatible with both old and new photovoltaic installations.
Intelligent Management:
With Growatt THOR, you can remotely control the chargers and monitor the vehicle’s current charge level. You can also schedule charging based on your preferred scenarios. Charging can be initiated or stopped via an app or by using an RFID card. Another option is Plug&Charge, which starts charging automatically when the charger is connected to the vehicle. Additionally, software updates can be performed remotely via OTA technology.
Compatibility:
Growatt THOR chargers are compatible with all brands of electric vehicles thanks to the Type 2 charging interface included with each charger. Compatible brands include Tesla, Renault, Nissan, BMW, Hyundai, and BYD.
Safety Features:
Growatt THOR chargers include DC overcurrent protection of 6mA. They also feature surge protection, ground fault protection, lightning protection, and high-temperature protection. These safety features ensure that THOR chargers are both safe and reliable.
GROWATT THOR EV CHARGERS – OPERATING MODES
Fast Mode:
- Plug&Charge: Click “Charge” in the app to charge the car at maximum power from renewable energy or the grid. This mode is ideal for quickly charging your car while on the go.
- Time Reservation: Users can set the start time and duration for charging. You can also set periodic charging schedules.
- Charging Capacity Reservation: Set the target capacity (kWh) for the EV to charge up to, with the option to repeat daily at a specific time.
- Charging Budget Reservation: Set a target budget for charging costs that you don’t want to exceed. This mode can also be set to repeat daily.
Off-Peak Mode:
- Charges the electric vehicle during off-peak hours to reduce electricity bills.
PV Linkage Mode:
- Charging power is dependent on the production of the PV installation. The EV will be charged using the excess solar energy dynamically, maximizing real-time self-consumption.
Manual Boost:
- Operates only when connected to a PV installation. The EV will charge at maximum power, even if solar panel power is insufficient, by using power from the grid.
Smart Boost:
- Available only when connected to a PV installation and in Off-Peak Mode. Smart Boost ensures the vehicle battery is charged before a set time, even if solar energy is insufficient or off-peak hours are short. Grid power can be used if solar production is inadequate.
Load Balancing:
- The charger dynamically adjusts its charging power based on the household power consumption to prevent grid overload.
Growatt THOR EV chargers offer a comprehensive solution for efficient and smart electric vehicle charging, ensuring safety, compatibility, and flexibility for various user needs and energy sources.
